Privacy
Your training record lives on your phone. Nothing about your lifting is uploaded, and there is no account to create.
What the app collects
Nothing. Your sessions, your lifts, your records, your readiness answers and anything Nosto reads from Health are stored on your device and stay there. There is no server holding your training.
Two things are commonly mistaken for collection, so they are worth naming. Nosto reads Health data — heart rate, variability, sleep, resting heart rate — on the device, to show you readiness and heart-rate context. And your watch writes a finished workout into Health. Health is Apple's store on your own phone and watch. Neither is a transfer to us.
What the app will collect, if you turn it on
When the beta begins, Nosto will include a switch in Profile called Share usage. It starts off. With it off, nothing is initialised, nothing is queued and nothing is sent.
Turned on, it sends anonymous counts about how the app is used, so that the parts nobody uses can be found and cut. Specifically:
- What you did in the app — that a session started, that a lift was logged and from which surface, whether it was made or missed, whether an attempt was undone, which screens were opened.
- Roughly what kind of lifter you are — your standing lifts as a 20 kg band, how heavy an attempt was as a band of your own record, how your training splits across movements, how many days a month you train.
- A random identifier, made on first launch and stored in the app. It is not your email, not your Apple ID, and not an advertising identifier. Reinstalling makes a new one.
What it never collects
- Weights in kilograms. Your level travels only as a band. Your actual records, your tonnage and your bodyweight never leave the device.
- Anything from Health. No heart rate, variability, sleep, resting rate or workouts. Not the readiness rating you give either — only whether you answered.
- Your name, date of birth or measurements.
- Anything you typed — notes, set names, saved sessions.
- Sensor data of any kind, raw or summarised.
- Your location. Location lookup is switched off and addresses are discarded.
This website
Page visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless: it stores nothing on your device and cannot follow you to another site. That is why there is no cookie banner — there is nothing to ask you about.
The calculator runs entirely in your browser. It keeps the numbers you type in your browser's own storage so the page remembers them next time; they are never sent anywhere, and clearing this site's data removes them.
The site also keeps its own daily tally: which page was opened, and what kind of device and browser opened it, in broad groups such as “iPhone · Safari”, or the name of a search engine or other crawler, and, when the browser says so, the name of the site the link was on, such as a search engine or a social app — never which page. Only the counts are kept. No IP address, no cookie and nothing that could tell one visitor from another.
If you ask for a place in the beta, the address and the sentence you write are stored so that the beta can be run and the first group chosen. They are not published, not sold and not added to any mailing list. If you are given a place, your address is entered into Apple's TestFlight so Apple can send the invitation; the form says so before you submit. A declined entry is deleted within 30 days, and every entry is deleted when the beta ends.
Who is responsible
Nosto and this website are run by North Active Oy, a company registered in Finland, Business ID (Y-tunnus) 3655370-7. North Active Oy decides what is collected and why, and is the one to ask about any of it — write here.
Who else is involved
- Cloudflare serves this site and counts its visits.
- Supabase, in the EU, holds the beta waitlist, support messages and the site’s visit counts.
- PostHog, in the EU, will hold the usage counts if you switch them on.
- Apple handles TestFlight and the App Store, and holds crash reports and install figures under its own terms.
Being honest about how small this is
The beta is a handful of people. If you are one of them and you switch usage sharing on, someone determined — meaning me — could line up a level band and a date with the waitlist. That is why this page says the counts are not linked to you and are not linked by us, rather than claiming they are anonymous. Claiming anonymity for a cohort this size would not be true.
Your choices
- Leave the usage switch off. It is off unless you turn it on.
- Turn it off later. Collection stops and the pending queue is deleted. What was already sent is not deleted automatically — the app shows its identifier beside the switch, and sending that identifier is how something already sent gets removed.
- Ask for your waitlist entry to be deleted, at any time, for any reason.
- Delete the app. Your training record goes with it, because it was only ever on your phone.
Changes
If what is collected ever widens, the switch asks again rather than quietly covering more. The wording you agreed to is recorded with your agreement.
